Operation Onward: Inspiring Action Launched by Money Management International with Support from JPMorgan Chase

Money Management International (MMI) is embarking on a groundbreaking project called Operation Onward: Inspiring Action, thanks to a generous grant from JPMorgan Chase. This initiative aims to enhance MMI’s digital outreach capabilities, with a focus on underserved, low-to-moderate income (LMI) and minority communities.

Recent data from MMI’s Consumer Distress Dashboard shows a concerning increase in unsecured debt among consumers seeking financial counseling, reflecting a national trend of rising debt levels. In response to this growing need, MMI has seen a 72% increase in BIPOC clients using its web-based services over the last three years.

Michelle Jones, Chief External Affairs Officer at MMI, highlighted the unique needs of LMI and minority clients, who often rely on mobile devices for online counseling. With housing prices, interest rates, and inflation on the rise, reaching and serving these communities is a top priority for MMI.

As part of Operation Onward, MMI will offer in-person and online credit clinics in ten cities, including Bronx, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and Houston. These clinics will focus on credit education, scoring, and debt management to improve financial health.

MMI’s mission is to empower individuals to achieve financial confidence through education and informed choices. With over 65 years of experience, MMI has been recognized by top financial publications for its commitment to helping people overcome financial challenges.

For reporters interested in interviewing real clients who have successfully navigated financial instability, MMI has a group of peer advocates willing to share their stories. These ambassadors have collectively paid off over $16 million in debt and are available for interviews.
